How Weather affects Our Health

It has been proven in numerous cases that different weather conditions can have distinctive effects on our overall health and wellbeing. Having said this, it is important to know how specific seasons can influence our immune system, metabolism and body all together. Some of these changes can be quite obvious and quite easy to deal with, while others may be a tad more difficult to handle. Also, not all changes that occur in our bodies are manifested in the same way. Depending on the condition, it may affect our physical, mental as well as emotional health. Sometimes, these conditions can even be psychosomatic.

Listed below are various weather conditions and all the effects that they might have on one’s health.

Spring

Perhaps one of the most common problems that people faced during spring season is of course, allergies. This happens because of  plant pollens which are released during the onset of spring season. This may be quite difficult for many people who have issues with bronchitis, asthma and different airway-related diseases. Seasonal allergies can be a cause of many chronic illnesses; that is why it is important for anybody who is struggling with similar things to have adequate therapy and medication during this period. Also, it is interesting to note that studies have shown late spring as the time when most suicides happen.

When higher temperatures are at peak and the atmospheric pressure decreases, it can greatly affect your blood pressure levels. It is quite common to experience higher blood pressure readings but also it may happen that blood pressure drops lower with decreasing atmospheric pressure. People who live in areas where there is too much sunlight during the year are at risk of getting age related macular degeneration. Another thing that is connected with humid weather conditions and air pollution is that people with already existing lung conditions may experience difficulty in breathing.

The rapid seasonal changes are most evident when summer turns to autumn. This might affect your entire immune system and can even weaken your body's metabolism. It is also known that the cold virus can be transmitted more easily in colder weather conditions. Another thing that is typical for this season is the rainy and windy days that can also trigger many kinds of allergies or exacerbate it.

It is quite typical for people to spend more time indoors when the temperature drops. This enables viruses and flu to spread more easily. Also, the immune system gets weakened, so your body is more prone to different illnesses and diseases. Blood viscosity may increase during cold season which is quite troublesome for diabetics who must control their blood sugar. During cold weather, there is an increased risk of heart attacks, especially among older people, as cold weather is known to narrow blood vessels.

Different changes in weather conditions and the rapid fluctuations in temperature and seasons can greatly impact the immune system and metabolism. This is why it is important to know how to properly prepare for various kinds of weather changes so that it would be easier to protect our health. The body reacts differently to various stimuli, so it would be smart to learn how to prevent the problems even before they occur.
